CANON

  • Cathedral Square Saint Georges Terrace Perth, WA, 6000 Australia (map)

CANON is a new work by WA artist Tom Mùller in response to the heritage and beauty of Cathedral Square in Perth City. Musical composition by Bonnie de la Hunty sung by the St George’s Cathedral Choir.

Free to attend for three weeks: every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 18 February, to Saturday 12 March. Session times begin at: 12pm, 1pm, 5pm and 6pm.

Large-scale and immersive, CANON, brings together an ensemble of sound plunged into a sequential generative cloud-form. Emulating a canon in song, a single voice builds to a hymn and reaches a crescendo as the audience stands witness to a performance of a large invisible choir enveloped by a celestial blanket of clouds, transforming Cathedral Square into a timeless and enchanted landscape.

CANON is best experienced on the grass of Cathedral Square, where the audience is fully immersed in the clouds of the fog. Cloud formations are comprised of glycerin and water.
